AQED’s writing contest has been tried-and-true by family educators, and is now an annual event!
As part of AQED's 25th anniversary celebrations, we are offering a 3rd edition of this exciting contest!
Homeschoolers are invited to write for AQED’s great literary contest.
Challenge
You must select three elements from among the following for your story: an old man, an ostrich, a pair of checkered pants and a horn.
You will need to add a blank page after your text on which you will write your first and last name, your age, the category in which you are registered, the title of your text, your parent’s name and AQED membership number, a telephone number where you can be reached and the word count of your text.

Categories
- Beginner writer: text of less than 500 words, prize for participation
- Experienced writer: over 500 words, grand prize and prize for participation
- Secondary writer: over 500 words, grand prize and prize for participation
We recognize that skills can vary across grade levels, therefore the beginner writer category is open to anyone who wants to share their writing, of less than 500 words, without submitting it to the panel.
Prize
A prize for participation will be awarded in each category. The participation prizes will be announced at a later date.
The grand prize for Experienced and Secondary writers is a new generation laptop computer!
Entries in these categories will be judged by a panel of judges according to the following criteria:
- originality of content;
- Integration of mandatory elements;
- development of the story;
- vocabulary and syntax.
Deadline
Submit your entry to outaouais [at] aqed.qc.ca no later than April 30, 2023.
Requirements
- Participants must be residents of Quebec and under the age of 18.
- Entries must be submitted to AQED by an adult member.
- Proof of homeschooling may be required.
- AQED reserves the right to publish all or part of the winning entries.
